Moon Series —

The Moon Series (2014 onwards) is a sequence of soft photographs of our earth's natural satellite, with the intention to allude the sense of scale of our known universe and to note a broader, wider perspective on life. As observed from various places of our planet, and by preserving the moon's perceived size as seen by the naked human eye, these photographs act as an invite to stargaze, intuit, gather and wonder.

As a collection of works, it has been inspired by the homecoming writings of astronomer Carl Sagan as well as an assemblage of poetic language and lyrical gestures that are presented below.

‘Gladly Beyond’ is a musical set composed by hd hausmann. The recording brings together excerpts of wondrous cosmic journeys -vital to the Moon Series’ osmosis-, by Sun Ra, e.e.cummings, David Bowie, Manos Hadjidakis, Nana Mouskouri, John O’Donohue on the On Being podcast, Claude Debussy, Chet Baker, Elvis Prisley, Ann Druyan and Dave Wolf on the RadioLab podcast, NASA Sound Archives, Carl Sagan’s Pale Blue Dot, as well as three original songs by hd hausmann.

Curated by Ellie Tsatsou, what follows is a selection of poems inspired by stargazing and adjunct to the research of this project.
Readings are performed by artist Lorie Trainor Buckingham of ‘A Taste of Space’.

‘Gladly Beyond’ as well as the poetry readings above were firstly presented live by the respective artists during the ‘Moon Gathering: Super Collider x Ellie Tsatsou’ event, held in Lumen Studios’ Crypt Gallery in London on July 17th, 2018.
