Julie’s new exhibition “Your Fly is Open” opens this Saturday, the 25th of May, at Stedelijk Museum s-Hertogenbosch and it’s going to be pretty rad. We also have a film trilogy there, projected upon 3 peripheral walls, which is super exciting too!
Here’s some more info- and I will be posting more on this soon. Thank you Julie! And thank you Hannah, Gisele, Matty, Michelle and Serena.
Life Adjustment Center, Inc. is family, happiness, wilderness, love.
Next is, Frank, Strange and moi, laughing at Marc who jumps around with the cat’s toy and the camera to take our picture.
More to follow !
I can’t say much yet, but lately I have been working on the art direction of a very exciting newborn project. The diptych above, which stands out from the very initial moodboards that I am preparing at the moment, is only a little hint!
We have begun planning this summer’s photographic roadtrip in Greece- during the first part of it, we will jump on and off a bunch of Cyclades islands during late July and early August, and then, for the second half of August, we will drive north through the mainland up until we reach Corfu.
So, the question is this; who’s interested in joining us? Or who is willing to invite us to come find you? The crew is a crazy combination of beautiful, creative people up to now, but I would love to have more friends with us, to spice up the rhythm of the journey as we travel across our beloved land. We plan to see dawns and dusks by the blue seas and take photographs until midnight. Let me know- I just can’t wait !
I wrote this piece on one of my favorite young greek photographers, Alexis Vasilikos. It has just been published on Portable, and you can read it here.
A photograph from my archives, taken a year ago in our land, Greece.
Here is the all new Ryan McGinley Purple Book, a special edition that documents and shares the process of his cross-country trips of the last decade. I think it’s very sentimental.
“Life is just more exciting with a camera in my hand. Taking pictures feels right, more right than anything else in life. I have to respect and honor the insanity of it all. Photography is where we live. I’m going if you’re going. This is the road trip. This is how we do it. Join the circus and run away from home. The journey is the destination.” RM
I’ve got incredible respect for his work, vision, character and life. Forever young and kind, and on the move for the better.
Looking through my archives, I find photographs I had taken quite a few years ago, and had since kind of forgotten. This particular one is of my brother, shot one summer day of 2009, in Greece. We were out by the sea, shooting a project together on the sand, and I remember that we ended up running in the woods and back to the water, capturing moments all the way through. That’s my favourite from that day – it has always been.
Let me introduce you to MAUVESTEAK, a new collaborative project for which I will reveal more this fall ! Stay tuned, it’s thriving of visual treasures, avant-garde art, and the best of fashion that’s shaped 20th century. It’s going to be wild.
