An outtake from my shoot with Nick, dancing like the wind.
This is a small collection of new photographs from our January shoot with my brother, Stelios, at the National School of Dance, in Athens.
We have begun planning this summer’s photographic roadtrip in Greece- during the first part of it, we will jump on and off a bunch of Cyclades islands during late July and early August, and then, for the second half of August, we will drive north through the mainland up until we reach Corfu.
So, the question is this; who’s interested in joining us? Or who is willing to invite us to come find you? The crew is a crazy combination of beautiful, creative people up to now, but I would love to have more friends with us, to spice up the rhythm of the journey as we travel across our beloved land. We plan to see dawns and dusks by the blue seas and take photographs until midnight. Let me know- I just can’t wait !
This photograph of my beloved brother, Stelios, was taken in late January in Athens, when we filmed one of his contemporary pieces at the National School of Dance. The final video should be following within the next few months of spring. He is so graceful.
I have always been inspired by tree branches and I feel that their postures, shapes and volumes evoke a movement that is very familiar to human bodies. And in my mind, I call those trees private dancers, because they grow all the way to the top of the skyline to do their dance- majestically and quietly, all at the same time.
So, here is an image that I will feature in the collages of my dancers’ project, shot in the countryside of America, a week ago.
That’s an outtake from my upcoming project with dancers, which I have completed shooting and just begun to edit. Some of the photographs may come in diptychs- I like the idea of pairing them together. Stay tuned for more photographs soon.
Hi there! I am currently looking for dancers based in New York City. If you are interested in collaborating with me on this project, please send a portrait, a little bit about yourself and current availability at contact at ellietsatsou dot com. There are no particular age or appearance requirements, as long as you have dancing experience and a willingness to experiment during the shoot.
This call is for a personal, ongoing project that explores movement and the body, and I can assure you that there is no commercial gain for me out of this exposure. I am looking forward to seeing your application. Many thanks!
(That’s the mood of the days.)
